Paying for a Medical Nexus Letter

Video Transcript

Hello, I’m Eric Gang, the Veterans Disability Attorney. I want to talk to you now about a very important topic, and that is: how do you pay for a medical expert?

I’ve talked a lot about this issue on this site in various videos—specifically about the importance of obtaining a private medical expert. But how do you actually obtain such an expert? Let’s assume you’ve been out of work for a long time because of your disability, you don’t have the financial resources to retain an expert, and maybe you don’t even know where to go to find one. What do you do?

The Bottom Line

When you retain a law firm, that law firm will generally advance the cost of that expert for you. If they win your case, then you pay the lawyer back for the money they spent on your case. It’s very simple.

Some law firms and lawyers will not invest their own money in these cases. In my opinion, that presents a less-than-favorable situation. I do not believe that you can present the most aggressive claim possible unless you’re willing to bring in high-powered medical experts.

Leveraging Your Law Firm’s Resources

So, when you hire a law firm or a lawyer, you’re basically leveraging that law firm’s resources to help you advance your case. If you win, you simply pay the lawyer back at the end. It’s very simple.

If you’re in a situation where you really need a high-powered expert to win your claim, the best thing you can do is to consider hiring legal counsel who is not afraid to invest their own money in helping you win your case.
